The EdgeStar works great as a freezer. The refrigerator works OK when you get the temp set correctly. The temperature setting for the refrigerator is very sensitive, and hard to get adjusted correctly for the refrigerator to keep from freezing the items. We use it as a freezer while we are camping. Plug the unit in and is to 0 degree in less than two hours. I would recommend this item to anyone looking for a good compact freezer/frig. This little fridge is exactly what I wanted. It holds soft drinks, bottled water, a small box of wine - with room left over. I LOVE the adjustable glass shelves. Yes, the little freezer is small but it seems to work every bit as good as a 'big' freezer. I'm going to use it to keep a zip lock baggie of ice so I can have an iced water in the middle of the night without waking everyone else in the house. It comes with two keys so the fridge can be locked - and locking / unlocking is a breeze. If you have small children around - no worries. Just lock the fridge. :-) It is very quiet. I saved a lot ordering it on line. If you do, don't be in a hurry. They told me three weeks....it took three weeks. Very good customer service. The fridge is working great. I had to remove the doors to get it inside. Great instructions, easy to do. Bottom drawer was a little more difficult to get back in. Family loves large inside. Great inside lights. Does not make tons of ice, but enough for a family, not enough for a party. Enough freezer shelves makes it easy to find everything. Quiet when compressor turns on. We've owned ours for over a year and absolutely love it. It is quiet, it is beautiful (especially when you turn on the interior lights), and it holds loads of wine. The only drawback is that it has only one temperature zone, but since we didn't feel the need to store red wine in a refrigerated unit, that worked fine for us. It fit perfectly under the granite countertop in the wet bar and was easy to set up. This is a awesome fridge that is now made in the US and on the leading edge with its hot water options. I strongly encourage you to measure the needed space because the counter depth fits much better in older homes that do not have large cutouts for the fridge. The interactive display is great as a control center and you can upload pictures for a on-demand slideshow. The LED lighting and large bins provide plenty of storage and is a nice change from the traditional side by side setup.
